Bycross Radio Testing.
Bycross Radio (International?) will be testing on 6278 KHZ (exact freq 6277.8 ) this weekend. Low power tests will be made 9 -9:30AM and 1:30 - 2 PM Both days. This is just a test – I am having to use an improvised antenna as I am still waiting for a coax order to repair the ‘proper’ one! Once our normal antenna is fixed, we will come on air for good, but I am impatient and would like to test this weekend. If anyone does hear anything, do let me know! Output is 11.5 Watts AM. Programes airing: Radio Free Europe + a 'London Calling' Big Country Tribute. Many thanks to Dave of WNKR for the Corsair transmitter, and ‘Radiopirate’ for the crystal and power supply.
Best of luck to everyone this Weekend,
Rob.

The frequency may not be a good choice with Laser on 6275 at the weekends.
Dave.

First test this morning, an hour and a quater, only groundwave reports from friends at 12 and 27 miles. I've been looking through the loggings, and am trying to choose times when few stations are on - this is the only crystal I have thats usable. I think I may scrap late afternoon PX and only go for the morning if it looks like intefeirance with anyone will be a problem. Thanks for the comment, Rob.

At 12pm I was eating egg sandwiches! Not me! Had another test from 1:15 - 2PM, Couldn't hear anything before I switched on.
Only one coment about the rig - output seems to drop as it heats up Down from 11.5 to 9 watts after 45 minutes, brought a big fan to cool that heat sink and it slowly crept upto 10. Mains PSU gives 13.2 Volts - should I bring it down to 12?

Yes if you could bring it down to 12 volts it would help as the TX was tuned up on that voltage to start with. I always do them like that because they are usually run from a car battery.Bycross Radio wrote:At 12pm I was eating egg sandwiches! Not me!
