Westcoast Finland log 31 january & 1 february

Post by Jan II »

Saturday 31 January (only one short bandscan in the morning and one in the evening)

3932,2 2318 unid but several listeners have identified this as SW Radio from Scotland. I heard them talking when I was in the beercellar, but when I reached the radio again, they were playing "What shall we do with the drunken sailor". 25322
6240,4 0915 Misti Radio "from the east part of the Netherlands". Nazareth, The Animals... 25322
6309,7 0905 Radio Condor with dancemusic. S/off a few minutes later. 25433
6325,8 2321 Studio 52 playing nice old rockmusic. Still on the air at midnight. 35444
6870 0910 PlayBack International Blues. At 2347 jazz. 45544

Sunday 1 february Good time to check the band in the morning. I was tuning 0730 - 1150. Only PBI in the afternoon and PBI/Paardenkracht in the evening.

5791 0816 Radio Scotland was talking about his new QSL-card and reading reports from last weekend. 45444
5800 0816 Shortwave Cowboys "Power of love". Later "Penny Lane". 25322
5809,9 0733 Radio Black Arrow with old pop and rock. Still on the air one hour later.25333
5819 0810 Radio Scotland AC/DC. Moved to 5791 at 0815. 45444
6209,8 2028 Radio Paardenkracht was testing something. S/off 2031. 35333
6210 0838 Radio Borderhunter was heard in Florida with this transmission. Nice! Not so strong here but stable signal. S/off 1123. 25333
6215 1118 Radio Spaceshuttle testing a few minutes here. Asking for reports (recordings) and playing rock'n'roll. The best signal that I have heard from Dick! 35443
6220 0914 Mystery Radio ID with frequency & nonstop disco. 45444
6240,4 0918 Misti Radio playing a latinoamerican song in spanish followed by "Wild thing". Was perhaps Mistilady choosing the music this time? Better signal one hour later. 25322
6270,2 1026 Radio Perfekt playing german c&w-music and announcing the address to Gronau. Disappeared suddenly 1038, s/off? 35333 or 32332 depending on if the pulsating tone was on or off.
6280,2 0843 Radio Merlin with old swing-music. Rock one hour later. Still heard when a had to leave the radio 1150. 35333 in the tops.
6291,1 0956 Radio Doctor Tim talking and playing music. Good signal this time! 35333
6305 1129 Radio Brandaris "Ghostbusters" and other pop. 35333
6315,9 0847 Radio Contact with great music. Old rock... S/off 1109. 25333
6870 1140 PlayBack International Blues all day. Much from Murphy's Saloon. Was my armchair listening -station all afternoon when I was doing some paperwork. The signal and skip on this high frequency seems to hit me right in the bull´s-eye!!! 45444 :D

A few unids from sunday:

6205 1006 "Soleado" played at this hour. In france they heard DRP here, them I guess...
6214,8 all morning weak music. Must be King Shortwave...
6325 also all morning weak with music. Radio Waves heard in central Europe...

Radio: NRD 525G
Antenna: cupperwire, 20 metres thrown out from the window.

Thank you all stations. What would a weekend be without you. Nothing!!! :) :D

Hello Ray!

Of course you are right here, Shortwave Pirate it shall be! I was checking on their QSL-card a minute ago and the radiostation seem to spell the stationname consistently "sw-pirate".

...eh...too many trips to the beercellar force you to create this kind of new stationnames. Thanks for noticing this Ray.

More beer!
