London Calling.

Post by Andy Richards »

Still quite noisy on the bands, but now it is coming and going.(At least here).Activity was fairly quiet though.
Mystery Radio’s signal struggled all weekend and is probably at it’s best as I write this.
The Bogusman had quite a good signal on Saturday evening again with his usual entertaining programme.
Best signal of the weekend,no surprises,The Spaceman on 76m was playing tunes by artists beginning with the letter S.Everything from classic Shocking Blue,Sniff’n’the Tears to The Singing Nun!!!Great stuff!!He was on air from early evening till very late at night.
WMR had a great signal all weekend, which meant I could really enjoy Jack Russell playing selected tracks from Rolling Stone’s Top 500 and his interesting radio chat.Followed by Chris Andrews playing some very cheesy oldies with some superb old Landbased Pirate recordings.Besides Thameside Radio(FM in London) there were clips from the legendary Radio Jackie(God,now I remember why I first got into free radio!)Very well presented but very dull.(Jackie, not WMR!).
The recording of Scottish SW station Radio Woodstock being raided live on air was superb. As was the final broadcast of ABC England.Great programmes guys!
So,even on a quiet weekend there was plenty to enjoy!
