When the flight ban was imposed,my first thought was how quiet it must seem for people living close to an airport.I live a fair way away from an airport and usually planes fly very high over my house,so I thought as they make hardly any noise that I would not notice any difference.
But I was wrong. It is SO QUIET without the planes!!
This can only mean one thing, although the planes do not make too much noise over my house, they still do make a noise. But I am just used to it.
I notice it when it's not there though.
If I go to a part of London that is closer to the airport,I can't believe that people can live there with all that noise. But of course they are used to it too.
You can probably see where this is leading................of course it is the same with radio.I am sure it must have happened to you before. There you are, listening to a SW Pirate, and a family member or friend says "How can you listen to that? With all that noise?".But you don't
notice the noise......because you are used to it.
But we are all used to different levels of noise. For some of you,my area would seem very noisy and for others very quiet. It depends what you are used to.
Unless you have listened to radio in a large range of locations you will probably think that the noise level in your area is "Average".
But what is average?
The noise level in my area today was higher than it normaly is.
So high that it spoilt my enjoyment of the broadcasts I was listening to and I gave up listening before 1100 UTC.
Only Mystery managed a 4 overall today.Although Bogusman had a nice signal last night on 76m.
Borderhunter was off to try 19m at 1000.I wonder how he got on.Is anyone else trying the higher frequencies?
