European Free Radio Report for week ending December 3, 2006

Post by curious george »

Very interesting conditions early this Sunday morning. Although it seemed that short skip was not working in Europe, the long skip was just fine! I was particularly surprised when propagation of the Dutch stations had a second peak around 0835 UTC. Once that peak diminished, the UK stations (Premier Radio and WMR) were still coming in nicely. Very pleased as I had a positive ID on a new one for me (Radio Atlantis), and a presumed reception of Premier Radio on 6265 kHz. All in all, over 2 hours spent at the dials, and a very productive session. Thanks to all the stations who came on early this morning! If anyone has an e-mail address for Radio Atlantis, please e-mail it to me.

PIRATE (Euro). 6205, UNID, 0724-0726 Dec 3, Talk by male at 0726, but couldn't copy any of it. (Maroti-NY)

PIRATE (Euro). 6210.24, Cupid Radio, 0735-0749 Dec 3, Not noted earlier, although Rinus said he was on by 0700. Talk by Rinus at 0742, then two Motown songs. SINPO 23432. (Maroti-NY)

PIRATE (Euro). 6220.1, Mystery Radio, 0710-0734 Dec 3, First station noted, and one of the stronest on 48 meters as always. Pop music at tune it, a new ID, "Mystery Radio Worldwide" was heard at 0734. SINPO 33333. (Maroti-NY)

PIRATE (Euro). 6264.96, Premier Radio (presumed), 0903-0917 Dec 3, Recognized "Love is the Drug" at 0903. Unfortunately, no ID heard, but this is their usual frequency. Definintely not Radio Scotland International. This would be a new one for me. (Maroti-NY)

PIRATE (Euro). 6266.1, Radio Scotland Int'l, 0850-0852 Dec 3, Playing New Order at tune-in. Thanks to Dave Martin for tip and ID on MSN. (Maroti-NY)

PIRATE (Euro). 6280, Radio Atlantis, 0750-0839 Dec 3, Heard some music at tune-in, then I got real lucky when a clear "Radio Atlantis" ID was given at 0752, followed by a song with male vocals. Checked several times later, with a techno type song (possibly Depeche Mode) at 0811. Polka music heard at 0839. A new station for me. (Maroti-NY)

PIRATE (Euro). 6287.7, Alfa Lima International, 0757-0800 Dec 3, Techno music when I tuned in. A utility station here made Alfred switch to 6294 kHz shortly after. (Maroti-NY)

PIRATE (Euro). 6293.7, Alfa Lima International, 0818-0836 Dec 3, Frequent talk by Alfred, greetings to me at 0836. Propagation momentarily peaked around this time, SINPO 33433. (Maroti-NY)

PIRATE (Euro). 6299.4, Radio Quintus, 0844-0900 Dec 3, It sounded like there were two stations close to 6300 kHz at this time. Heard a Dutch accented male talking and some vocals. ID per Dave Martin and Achim on MSN who were listening at the same time. (Maroti-NY)

PIRATE (Euro). 6300, UNID, 0714-0719 Dec 3, Possible announcment heard at 0714, then a "machine gun type" utility came on. Big carrier at 0719, but little or no modulation. Was gone at 0731 re-check. (Maroti-NY)

PIRATE (Euro). 6304.84, UNID, 0759-0803 Dec 3, Just a carrier, not sure if this was the same station I heard a bit later on 6304.94, which was Delta Radio. (Maroti-NY)

PIRATE (Euro). 6304.94, Delta Radio, 0826-0831 Dec 3, Rolling Stones' "Fool to Cry" at tune-in, then ID at 0831. SINPO 23432. (Maroti-NY)

PIRATE (Euro). 6401, Weekend Music Radio, 0849-0915 Dec 3, Heard Jack Russel talking at 0912, then a canned "Weekend Music Radio" ID by a deep voiced male at 0915. This was one of the better stations of the morning, but persistent ute QRM always spoils it. (Maroti-NY)
