Post by Robin Banneville »

Hi Roger.

Just to let you know that although your signal is generally only about s7-9 on 6240 kHz, and fading from time to time to just above the noise, you are coming through audibly okay here today at 09:45 (utc) on the second sunday of June (11th,June.2006).

Anyway, good to here you on your 26th, "birthday".

All the best,

Hi Robin

Thanks very much for helping out with a reception report for todays special broadcast, sadly this time of year conditions are very unstable especially as the sunspot minimum continues to cause problems,

Anyway glad you were able to follow some of the broadcast today, hopefully we shall still be on air for the 27th year?

Congratulations to BRI for 26 years broadcasting. I heard the programme with a fair signal here.

Have you considered evening programmes in the summer? I know stations broadcasting from Ireland, like Laser or Island Radio have been putting in good signals after dark.

Evening programmes

Post by achim »

Hi,
was not able to listen to the 6240 Khz as I have in-house electrical interference on this frequency. So I need high signal levels.
Laser on 6275 and Islands Radio on 6284 are booming in here at night, weaker signals at evenings but sometimes S=8 as early as 1800 Utc.
Would be nice to hear some evening broadcasts of BRI.
greetings achim

BRI

Thanks Paul/Achim for your reports and suggestions for alternative broadcast times, I had often thought about putting the station on air overnight but mostly the signals skip long distance so didnt really think it was worth producing anything, however as you rightly say the Summer conditions do seem to be allowing good overnight reception.

I will certainly speak to our TX operators about the possibility of some broadcasts maybe late evening say from 10pm UK time onwards, hopefully you could help me out with a reception report or two, will post on this site as and when BRI might be on air.

Hello Roger D.,

I recorded well on Sunday your broadcast but I was not able to identify your station, I have a lot of problem with the English language, I erased the audio and now I realize the big error, I would have no QSL of the BRI's 26-th birthday, I would wait so for 27-th Hi .........
By looking at my old QSL I found BRI's first that I received for a report on October 30, 1983 on 6225 Khz at 10. 20 UTC your power was of 20 watts and the QSL is signed Jayne!!!! He The newsletter said that for Sunday , February 26, 1984 there would be German Service at 9. 30 and at 10. 00 Roger Davis Show ...................
Roger, it was good time and call remind good memory.
Gretings from Marcel/France old pirates listeners.
Receiver:
ICOM R.70 and ICOM IC.729
DRM - Di-Wave 100
Vertical antenna 5/8 wave CB

Hi Marcel

Sorry you have erased your recording of BRIs signal from last Sunday, but you will hopefully get a second chance to hear the show on the 27th June.

Thats great news to hear you still have one of BRIs early QSL cards dated back to 1983!! it was at that time we had several DJs working on the station, along side really good conditions it was not uncommon to receive over 100 letters for just one broadcast!! what a great time for BRI.

Yes we had our German DJs Daniel kaye, Simon Hendriks and Johnny Best all producing some great programmes, wonder if anyone knows where they are today?

Thanks Marcel for sharing your memories of BRI from 1983/4 glad you still tune in to the station.

Kind regards >> Roger.
