London Calling.

Post by Andy Richards »

Nice conditions this weekend.

Some very nice programmes and signals too.

Borderhunter had both on 76m on Saturday night and on 48m this afternoon.
But Frans, concentrate on the music, don't be distracted by phone calls,SMS and "The Chat".......:-)
Dead air is not good.
Nice music, liked the Gary Moore and a French song he played today.

Marconi with a good signal on Saturday afternoon.

Laser were better than normal with me both on 4026 and 6220.But they are still announcing their 48m
frequency as 6210.Was the Stuart Ross show live last night?

I like Free Radio Victoria and he did a nice programme on 52m today with a fair signal.

Orion,regular as clockwork,nice signal,nice mix of music.Something for everyone.

I spoke the other day about how Orion has made 5820 his frequency and Skyline the same with 3905.
I would say that Orang Utan has laid claim to 6200 and Mike Radio to 6935.
Orang Utan is an old Pirate returned and Mike is fairly new to Short Wave, but both are welcome additions
to the stations we already have.Orang Utan has a nice style of oldies show and Mike Radio does 60's,70's and 80's
music. He has a good radio voice, good jingles,a professional style(Reminds me of Brandaris and Magic).
Also his English is,I think, better than he thinks it is.

Quintus had a nice signal, but for me,just Dutch music on quite a long broadcast is not too interesting.
I would prefer a mix of music as he used to do.But I know others will disagree with me and maybe this was
a "one off".Maybe he just felt "a bit Dutch" today.....:-)

Far too many UNID's.Maybe it's me.But I did fail to ID a lot of stations this weekend.

Best signals came from Borderhunter,Laser,Marconi,Orion,Quintus and Mike.
Then along came the HUGE UNID........first on 6300,then 6295 briefly, then back to 6300.
I'm sure it was him on 5930 later too.
There are very few operators that can manage such a huge signal with such nice mod.
It was a shame he didn't stay on a bit longer and try to entertain us and tell us who he was.
My guess is that it was Boomerang, but maybe Shadowman.
Anyone going to own up to having the best signal of the weekend?

Radios with no ID, no talk : see the chats

Soon radios without music : only a carrier, see the chats for the list of records to play from your own MP3 files !
