Hi everyone:
What a great weekend on the pirate bands! Conditions were very good on Friday and Saturday nights on both 48 and 76 m. There were several stations on the air Friday night (Cupid and Marconi had the best music, and signals), but everybody must have rested Saturday, since I could only find Likedeeler and Baro (thankfully, mw conditions were good too.)
I was very excited about Sunday morning after reading Andy Richards last post on alfalima, and his comment that the first Sunday of the year is always busy. I got up earlier than usual (0400 local, 0730 utc), and I was not disappointed. I went straight to 76 m, and was shocked to find Shoreline on 3932 with a 43443 signal. This was, by far, the best morning reception I have ever had on 76m. I then checked 48 and 52 m, where signals were weak initially, but improved by 0815. They weakened again around 1000, but did not disappear until after 1130.
There were indeed lots of stations on the air, and I managed to get some signal from 23 of them before leaving the radio around 1200. Shoreline, Orion, Pionier and Sonic had the best signals of the morning. It was also nice to log Shoreline on 4 different frequencies (3932, 5810, 7590 and 9290).
This was the best Sunday morning here since at least November. Thanks to all the ops! It is always fun to hear you, weak or strong!
