Westcoast Finland log, 21-22 February

Post by Jan II »

Saturday 21 February

6240,4 0849 Misti Radio not strong but ok. Music and IDs. Sign off 0908. 25222
6380 0911 Radio Altrex surprised me on this frequency. Still on the air one hour later. 25322
6425,6 1020 Studio 52 and "Pretty Belinda". Still heard 1253 but had signed off 1300. 35433
6880 1405 PlayBack International started a liveprogramme after hours of 80's pop. JJ & Kevin Turner in the studio singing Happy Birthday to Orion-John. Listened to them most of the evening. The best radioshow I have heard for a long time!! =D> 35433. In the evening 45544.

unids
6210 1053 weak music. (Radio Suzuki heard in UK & France)
6310 1048 weak music. (Radio Grensstad heard in UK & France)
6400 0835 A station signed on at this hour. Music heard a few minutes before fade off. (Dr Tim heard in UK & France)

Sunday 22 February

6220 0700 Mystery Radio Nonstop disco. 35444
6260 0949 Radio White Star from Finland. Nice musicmix with international hits but also world famous(?) finnish groups as Ne Luumäet, Aikakone and Nuket. Sign off 1037. 35433
6301,6 1703 Radio Carneval was the surprising solution of an unid here. Identified by the operator himself via Iann´s blog! Wasn´t heard down in central Europe by the blog-gang so only long skip this late it seems... Strong splash from Sahara on 6300. 21321
6305 0817 Radio Lowland moved here from 6325. Not a good move seen from my direction. Weaker signal and splash from 6308,8. Sign off 0833. 23322
6306 1750 Radio Carneval moved here. Same signalstrength as on 6301,6 but a free frequency made this a good move. Sign off around 1759. 25322
6308,8 0717 Radio Cochiguaz playing panflute from the Andes for many hours. Still on the air 1038. Also when I returned to the radio 1412. Still heard 1446 but had signed off before 1507. 35333 all day.
6324,8 0808 Radio Paardenkracht with old rock. Still on the air one hour later. 25232
6325 0712 Radio Lowland gave the SMS-number and continued with truckdrivermusic. 35444
6375,4 0643 Radio Baken 16 and "Geronimo´s cadillac" Still on the air at 0851, but had slipped down to 6375,2. 35343
6424,6 1418 Radio Pionier playing Bruce Springsteen. 25322
6880 0727 PlayBack International JJ & Kevin Turner live in the studio. Probably a replay of last evening´s show because of the time announcement: "...after three bottles of wine". Impressive if that announcement belonged to this morningprogramme! 45544
6925 2050 Spider Radio "Just a gigolo", "You´re in the army now" and the final trumpetmusic. Sign off exactly 2100. 35333 and USB.
12257,1 0915 WR International playing music. Weak signal so hard to copy the talking. Better next week! 15331

unids
5719,9 1604 english speaking station heard when talking but not during music. Only carrier noted at 1604, but grew stronger all the time until sign off 1657. I can hear some words at 1651, but not enough for opening Pandora´s box. This must be Radio Pandora who announced a testbroadcast at 1600 on 5720 kHz. More tests please Pandora! 15321
5810,2 0740 weak music. (Shortwave Cowboys heard in UK and France)

Radio: NRD 525G
Antenna: cupperwire, 20 metres out from the window.

Another great weekend, thank you all radiostations!
