European Pirate Report from Dunlo, PA, USA, 16 December 2007

Post by Dave Valko »

Couldn't make up my mind whether to go up to the remote site or not. Conditions seemed on the borderline. On the Bedfordshire UK Web receiver, conditions sounded very poor. We got a good amount of freezing rain. Even after an hour I still had a thought of going out. In the end it didn't seem worth the risk and the effort. (16 Dec.)

6220.06 Mystery R. Peaking at about S-7 at home at 0619 Usual Pop and Dance mx. Did catch an ID several minutes later. (16 Dec.)

3910.12 WMR Hrd when I first tuned in at home, +0620. Recognized Jacks voice faintly. Couldn't even get this on the Bedfordshire UK RX320 Web rx at first, but then it was coming in later around 0715. (16 Dec.)

6399.92 WMR Just an extremely weak carrier prior to 0700 and nothing on the Bedfordshire UK Web rx. Amazing that 3910.12 was better. 0906 much better and up to good level. Getting it at home as well but not that great. (16 Dec.)

6209.7 Radio 48?? Post 0620, just an extremely weak carrier at home and nothing on the Bedfordshire UK Web rx!! Must have been poor conditions in Europe. (16 Dec.)

6309.69 R. Lowland 0719 weak signal w/unrec. Pop mx, 0720 M anncr, then back to more mx. Hearing a carrier here at home as well. At 0735 was getting some mx on the home rx which wasn't much worse than the Bedfordshire UK Web rx!! Again unreadable anmnt at 0737. 0740 anmnt w/e-mail addr but just couldn't copy. Yet another anmnt at 0747 hrd on both rxs!!! On the Web rx, did hear what sounded like a live remote at 0748 peak w/ment of Deutscheland. 0751 more tlk. Much better at 0810 check, then got an ID w/e-mail at 0815. Sounded like a spur before 0800. (16 Dec.)

No sign of 6300 Sahara this morning, which is a bonus. (16 Dec.)

5815.05 Orion R. 0757 getting some mx on the Bedfordshire UK Web rx, then a Polka at 0800. Also had a little audio of the Polka on my own rx. 0802 Percy Faith on both too. 0804 canned ID, and pgm start w/Christmas oldie. Poor signal at this time. Better by 0806. 0808 ID, freq, greetings, and said wouldn't be on long and closing around 10 o'clock. Christmas song by Abba. Gone by 0910 check. Hrd on the Bedfordshire UK RX320 Web rx. (16 Dec.)

6310.9 R. Paardenkracht 0831 found here along w/Lowland playing "Sealed With a Kiss", then into Dance song. 0837 ID and spelled out phonetically. I actually had a weak carrier on 6310.83 at 0841 on my rx. Hrd on the Bedfordshire UK RX320 Web rx. (16 Dec.)

6290.03 R. East Coast Holland/VOTN 0844 OC, then harmonizing vcl song started at 0845. Modulation a bit low. 0847 playing the Eagles "Long Road Out of Eden" CD, experimenting w/the audio. Buzzing a couple times with the audio coming up nicely briefly. Finally up at 0851. Also getting the carrier on the home rx, then possibly a little audio at 0851. Had a canned ID at 0914 but couldn't copy due to the UTE. 0919-0923 ID/testing anmnts over mx. E-mail addr. Said was new CD from the Eagles. Rpt requests. Freq given and testing. Usual intermittent UTE QRM here. Good otherwise. Hrd on the Bedfordshire UK RX320 Web rx. (16 Dec.)

6205 R. Borderhunter 0927 Polka mx w/audio cutting out a lot w/CD skipping. Also getting the signal at home at 0930 but too late to get any readable audio. Played the song at least 3 times. 0932 canned M counting down New Years, and into Christmas song w/CD still skipping. 0937 ID anmnt, freq, modulation problems, greetings, all over the Polka again. E-mail addr, ID, etc. SMS number 31-610531057. Said had a call, then DT Pop song. Hrd on the Bedfordshire UK RX320 Web rx. (16 Dec.)

6280 R. Devalon Int. 0943 End of Rock-a-billy song, then M w/ID and pirate news pgm. Then some horrible noise passed over the freq. Played recordings of Magic AM, R. Heineken, and R. Mazda. Fair. Hrd on the Bedfordshire UK RX320 Web rx. (16 Dec.)

6270 R. Dr. Tim 0956 "Silent Night". 1002 "Merry Christmas Polka". 1005 quick canned jingle ID. 1006-1008 live amnt w/ment of freq, ID "Christmas man, R. Dr. Tim...", then in GM, and back to EG. Said was S-9 in the UK. More song anmnts briefly at 1009. 1030 more GM and EG anmnts w/ID over GM Christmas mx. Fairly good signal. Hrd on the Bedfordshire UK RX320 Web rx. (16 Dec.)

6310.58 Was getting a carrier here at 1004 on my own rx. Gone at 1011 check. (16 Dec.)

6305 UNID. 1011 played several songs by the Hollies including "Stop Stop Stop", then "Mr. Tambourine Man", "The Answer is Blowin in the Wind", 1025 "Catch Us If You Can", 1036 brief anmnt by what sounded like a W, then off the air. QRM from Antonio R. on the same freq. Hrd on the Bedfordshire UK RX320 Web rx. (16 Dec.)

6305 Antonio R. At 1011 playing "Silver Bells", "Silent Night", "I'll Be Home for Christmas", 1022 ID and phone anmnt 0031-611098508, then in GM. Both were about equal. Hrd at least one of the stations carriers from 6305 on my own rx. QRM from UNID. on the same freq. Hrd on the Bedfordshire UK RX320 Web rx. (16 Dec.)

6254.7 LHH 1029 sev. oldies, then anmnt w/ment of LHH, old pirates, then jingle, and back to mx. Not that good. Hrd on the Bedfordshire UK RX320 Web rx. (16 Dec.)

6300 R. Sallandse Boer OC at 1040. 1041 started a CCR song, then into "Proud Mary", "Bad Moon Rising", "Odia" by CCR. 1047-1048 M anncr in DT w/ID sounding like R. Sallandse Boer. Off the air at 1049. Wonder if this was the same station that was on 6305 QRMing Antonio R. Hrd on the Bedfordshire UK RX320 Web rx. (16 Dec.)
