Weekend Music Radio (WMR)

Post by wmrscotland »

May I say thank you to everyone who has been posting their logs of WMR in the last few weeks. Had some really nice e mails too, thanks you. Glad the effort put into the programming is appreciated. Hope the toast wasn't wasted when the comments about the Radio Delmare toilet was going out!!!

On 3910kHz in parallel with 6400 this weekend, which was hitting the UK very well last night. Very well. Not quite as strong as the blowtorch on 3927 though (Spaceman).

As this is the first weekend in years on 76m, reports are welcome. The skip is nice and short today, so 6400 is hitting the UK, which it hasn't been for a few weeks during Sunday daytime...

For the record, the freq will be moved to 3945 by 3.45pm today when 3910 is used by Radio Fax/ Reflections Europe..

WMR (portable reception)

Hi Jack, and all at WMR

I brought a new Roberts R861 portable last week and decided to test it out last night on my way home from an earlier appointment. Although I didn't actually find the receiver as sensitive as my old Panasonic portable RF-B45, it still seems to do a reasonable job. :)

WMR was coming in at 21.15 utc on 6400 kHz with a respectable SINPO of 35444 on just the 1m telescopic and 3910 kHz was slightly lower but still well audible. The 76m band seems a bit noisy at the moment and there is a lot of lightning static about.
(The World Service of Radio Spaceman was 45544 on the same set-up - I'm not sure how many kilowatts he was burning mind)

Anyway, hearing you again this afternoon at around 16.45 utc on 6400, but not as strong as the last two weeks.

Keep Rocking,
Best 73's ... Robin
