Free radio pirates on medium and short wave messageboard of alfa lima

The sunspot cycle is improving reception.But compared to the last few weekends this weekend was not so good.
One poor week,so what?It's still much better than it was.
The three regulars,Laser,Playback & Mystery were all there but not superb
signals.
Radio Saturnus was really impressive,on just 25 watts with a good solid signal and some good music.As always a nice mic sound too.
Other posts seem to point to my Scandinavian log being Old Time Radio.Is this right?They had a pretty good signal with me,spoilt only my their choice of frequency.
Same again for Boomerang,he would have been rock solid if he had not been on top of Radio Brandaris.
Still a problem.Stations coming on the air on top of each other.This used to cause a lot of anger amongst operators but I think/Hope that most operators now realise that it is very
hard to find a clear frequency and often the other station is just not heard.Especially when it is fairly local.(In the same country).
Who was my UNID on 6305 playing Dutch Rock?
What about the station on 6325?What was it called?I logged it as "Dutch Rain".But I am not sure...................
Nice signals from Brandaris & Bonofox today.

Strongest signal?Probably Boomerang,but too much interference.I would give it to Radio Scotland,nice and clear on 6200.

Im surprised that this little tx does so well

I am not yet sure about what to do, become angry or appologize...
This because I got a number of VERY angry and agressive emails about intentionally jamming Brandaris (not you Andy!). Some of them without a decent sender-name...

But, I can honestly say that, due to local/short/long-skip conditions on 48 I did not receive Brandaris. For as far as I could hear or see, from 6300 to 6320, the freq was completely free at that time.

It seems to me, that what started overhere on FM now finally has reached SW...

Don't get angry; got email without any name or address just put it in the trash.
I am sure It was a local condition problem. Before I came on are I didn't hear any Dutch pirate, only Playback int. on 5805kc and Merlin on 6280 or so, and that's it. I'm sure you got the same problem. In the past it happens me too and more pirates I'm sure about this. That's the reason I moved to the 52mb; but seems to be more are using this band now, so who know when we have to move again for the same reason.

We all know and have this problem on shortwave, by example I often can't hear R. zodiac while he is only 20km away.
Just keep on rocking and put your nice signal and audio on air.

I guessed it was not your fault and people should not have sent you aggressive emails - there is no need for that.

One way to check if a frequency is clear is to look on the loggings from myself or Achim, Iann, Foton etc to see if we've logged a station on that channel.

Or go into Iann's chatroom and ask if that frequency is clear. You will probably get an instant answer.

By the way Andy, your station on 6325 was DUTCHWING

I think we need to get this subject straight once and for all,because it seems to have been causing problems for years!

EXCEPT FOR THE VERY OCCASIONAL IDIOT,STATIONS DO NOT JAM EACH
OTHER DELIBERATELY.THERE IS NO POINT HARMING THEIR OWN SIGNAL.

Even with Boomerang's huge signal,Brandaris was still pushing through on his fades,the damage was 50/50.
The idiots who sent Boomerang nasty e-mails did not use their brains.Why would he use this frequency if he knew it wasn't clear?What would be the point?
At the end of the day,Pirate Radio is something people do for fun.
Listeners and operators need to relax a bit,not take things so seriously and realise that these things happen and are very hard to avoid.

So lighten up people and next time a station jams another one (Which is bound to happen again soon)just sms or e-mail the station(Politely) and tell them what is happening.Or post right here on AlfaLima.

The point of all this is to try to avoid bad feelings and cross-national "Us and them" mentality.We all share the same hobby.

Thanks for the report!
Concerning the problem of using the same frequency: think you right, not many stations are deliberately jamming the others.
That's often the case on FM overhere, not on SW.

Same here what John mentioned: stations like VOTN and Shadowman are aprox. 10 km away from my location, and i only can receive them by there groundwave now and then.

So, sometimes it's looks like the freq. is clear, in reality it's crowded..

Before i go 'on air', i watch Achims logs, or listning to the remote receiver in Bedfordshire.
But that's not a guarantee there's no station at all, offcourse.

You do what you can.Some stations have the extra benefit of a few friends or listeners(Like a network) who will advise them when they come on air.
But none of these things are a guarantee.
But in the end,this is a lot of trouble to go to when all you really want to do is have a bit of fun!
As I posted earlier,people need to relax a bit more.........shit happens!!It is nobody's fault.I have heard much worse interference on the amateur radio bands!From people who are supposed to know what they are doing...................in my experience Pirates are more careful and more aware than licenced operators...........because they have more to risk.
