It was 27 years ago when we made our first test transmission on SW back in June 1980, 27 years later we are still here broadcasting most 2nd/4th Sundays of the month! we hope to celebrate in a small way on Sunday 10th/24th June, remembering the first 10 years of broadcasting playing the music from that period, we think 1980 to 1990 was the most exciting time for the station we often received over 100 letters for each broadcast, we had a full team of DJs and helpers, how times have changed in 2007!! but we still have our listeners which is the most important thing, without their support we would of almost certainly closed down by now.

Subject to TX availability we shall be using 6245khz or possibly 6240khz from 10am UK time, if conditions are unfavorable then the programme should also be going out via our webstream which is available at www.geocities.com/britainradio48

Reception reports are especially welcome for this months broadcasts

Thanks for your support listeners past and present.

73s Roger.

Hello Roger,

Effectively Roger you took old man's Hi.........blow already 27 years and always present it is tremendous, merry birthday to RBI.
I have under my eyes my RBI's first QSL of October 30, 1983 RBI broadcast on 6225 Khz with 20 watts and it is signed Jayne. In Newsletter of February, 1984 RBI wanted to introduce a service in German and a service in Dutch in when a service in FRENCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That good recollections of this time.
In 27 years (in 2034) I hope again to hear RBI.

Hi Marcel

Thanks for sharing your memories of BRI, yes I suppose the station now falls into the `mature` bracket as its reached the 27th year!! its fantastic to hear that you have a QSL card/newsletter from our 3rd year of broadcasting when we were using 6225khz, the 20watt TX always put out a good signal it was very reliable.

BRI certainly introduced a German service in the early 80s then briefly a Dutch programme, sadly we never quiet acheived the French service but we had certainly planned to do this at some stage?

We enjoy receiving listeners memories such as yours Marcel, maybe it will encourage others on here to contribute any that they might have of our 27 years on SW? we could feature any which might turn up on our next broadcast it would be great I must say!!

Another 27 years Marcel? I am not so sure whether my age would allow me to keep producing programmes on a regular basis!!!! or maybe BRI could become a free radio station for the very mature listeners out there?? we might have to take things much slower!!!!.... this years celebrations on air will be mostly music memories, however I am certainly thinking of making BRIs 30th birthday a special occasion! I would really like to have as much listener input for that broadcast as possible, maybe we should start now to be sure that we receive as much input as we can for the `special 30th...

73s .. Roger
