Re: Taking pre-orders for 2011 Pirate Radio Annual

Update: After a few weeks of printer delays, the boxes of books finally arrived last night at 6. I printed some labels & have just started assembling & packing up the books. It'll probably take me a few days to get them all ready and out the door, but I hope to have most done tomorrow. So, i...

Web receiver logs April 29-May 6

All of these logs were via the global tuner in Bedford, UK. No chance to listen to the radio in the evenings at home or over the weekend because I've been busy with getting the gardens in, cutting up a fallen tree, mowing, etc. But from what I've been reading, other DXers on our side of the Atlantic...

Taking pre-orders for 2011 Pirate Radio Annual

Just a note that I put together a small book that is somewhat like the Pirate Radio Directories of the 1990s. Those books were mostly profiles of all of the different North American pirates on the air. This book also mostly profiles North American pirates, so it will primarily be of interest to Nort...

UK web receiver logs

I was at my in-laws’ house for Easter weekend with only a Degen 1103 portable and a noisy listening environment. So, instead of trying to fish poor signals out of the noise, I thought I’d give Europe a try and I listened via a web receiver in the UK to European pirates. It was a lot of fun hearing s...

Hi Ray, Wow, nice catches! I heard both last night, about S9+5 here in PA. Not sure, but I think We Monkey Radio was running about 10-15 watts, if they were using the Grenade. The second station in USB was Moronic Times Radio, which was playing some old "how to listen to shortwave radio" t...

Thanks much for the logs, Dave. It's a wake-up call that I need to try something different. This was my worst weekend thus far, I think. A few carriers, but that's about it. Lately, about all I've been able to log are Boomerang, Playback, & Borderhunter--and with considerable effort.

Here, too, but much weaker. The audio only peaked up a few times. I listened for about two hours, but almost nothing was audible here. Aside from fair signals from Mystery Radio (weaker than normal here), I only had a carrier from Radio Scotland on 5809 (I believe). So, pretty ultimately bad (especi...

1/25 nonlogs from the US

:( I listened from 0835-0915. Transatlantic conditions were evidently very poor. I listened for Orion, Scotland, Playback, etc., who were all on at the time & I couldn't even hear their carriers, let alone any audio. I can nearly always at least hear some carriers. It seems to me that lately the...

Sorry...as ya'll probably figured out, these logs were for Jan. 11. Alex: Thanks for the note about the chatroom. Unfortunately, I can't get into it at home. I guess the connection is too slow. Nice that someone else was listening to these stations, too! Wow, the Internet really helped me with every...

Stations heard in the US: 1/10/09

Hi, I actually have a little bit to report this morning. My antenna snapped in an ice storm last weekend, so I pulled it down, rewound it, and restrung it this week. It's much straighter this time & is approximately 300 feet long & pointed around 220 degrees. Either it's working better or pr...

Thanks for the logs, Dave! I've been listening since Boxing Day, too, but haven't had any luck, aside from Mystery Radio & carriers. Seems like conditions have been really bad and most stations are signing on too late (judging from UKDXer's blog & Achim's blog). I listened from 0830-0915 tod...

Whoops...also the Boomerang log should be in the 0900 time frame, not 0800.

When I went back to the radio after typing the logs at 0940, the signals were weaker still, but FRSH was still there and I had carriers at 6264.84, 6280, and 6310.

12/28 Update, US

Hi, Thanks to everyone who's broadcasting right now, but unfortunately the signals just aren't quite making it to me--they must all be going to Dave...he's created some sort of DX black hole around Dunlo. Anyway, lots of carriers, but very little audio for me. I'm disappointed because I strung out a...

Great logs, Dave! I was at my dad's house & only had a Sony 2010 with about 50 feet of wire. I checked the band between 0900 and 0925 last night, but only had some carriers (no audio was making it...well, except for Mystery): 6210 Radio Mistletoe 6220 Mystery Radio 6259.8 Radio Paardenkracht 629...
