London Calling - For Christmas!

A busy Christmas on the Pirate bands with almost every spare frequency taken and some not free too :-(

Christmas Eve is never too busy,I guess people have got too many other things to do.Both operators and listeners. But still a little to listen too with good signals from Marconi & Lowland and a huge signal as usual from Boomerang.Superb mod too.

Plenty to listen to on Christmas Day.Radio Optimod very nearly did a radio show...........good mix of music with ID jingles and a very strong, well modulated signal.
Radio Mistletoe made his,now regular,Christmas broadcasts.Popping up all over the place with a solid signal and nice mod.Great signal from the North Pole................:-)
Radio Geronimo SW must have been using the big rig on Xmas Day as the signal was very strong here.
Dave Scott mentioned my comment about Geronimo being a good mix of "Rock & Radio" and I'm glad to report it was more of the same.Great music & interesting Radio chat.Superb "Anorak Radio"!
Mazda & Merlin both had strong signals but 6280 suffers with noise and interference here.

Boxing Day seemed to be the busiest day.
Orion Radio was on early as usual with his usual interesting mix of music and a good signal too.
But the mic sounded a little strange today.(John, you haven't borrowed Frans' mic have you?)
Only joking Frans!Radio Borderhunter had a big signal on 6210 today nice mod and the mic is now acceptable!
Played me a nice Blues track too!
Mystery radio were heard all day but got really strong in the evening.
Too many stations on 6300 to 6310 again.Brandaris and Overijssel were cancelling each other out.
It didn't help when Shadowman blasted out a huge signal nearby on 6295 either.
Was it Radio Lowland on 6420?I only caught a half ID,which sounded like Lowland. He got stronger as the day went on.Not a bad frequency.Better than 6400 I think.
Playback on 6870 not really coming in well here, but still better than Laser.
Very interesting broadcast from Radio Scotland Int on 6202.Albert was running a live webcam on his website whilst on air and it was very interesting to see him in action. He said he was not the first to do it,Alfred did it several years ago with Radio Alfa Lima Int,but it was the first time I have ever seen it and it was good fun.
(It's OK Albert, your face was not too clear on the webcam............)
He also increased the power gradually as he was worried about interference to his WiFi.Interesting to see that each power increase did make a difference. As this is not always the case.

Thanks Andy. Your comments are very much appreciated!
Geronimo SW will be back again in the new year. Hopefully with the higher powered transmitter now up and running (220W) and further improvements about to be made to the antenna system, the signal will continue to be more reliable.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for reporting!
At start i was not running that much power, cause the WIFI connection from the computer/webcam in the studio to the modem is very weak, although the distance is 16 meters only.
At some higher freq. like around 6300 the connection is 'dead', interference caused by the TX..
But: a stronger wifi connection is coming soon..running this webcam was a nice experiment!

Albert.

Hello Andy, thanks for the log and comment. Well strange about the mike; some told me it sounds good and strong others told me it sounds strange? Indeed I was using a new mike; maybe I need to fine tune or there was some HF on it? I haven't borrowed Frans his mike
