(late) Report from Dunlo, PA, USA for 6 December 2009

by Dave Valko
Sorry for the delay this week. There were just so many stations on the air Sunday morning, it took all week to review the recordings!!! Thanks to all the stations for going on the air.

6 DECEMBER 2009: Once again, the propagation data was indicating poor conditions. It was a bit unsettled due to a coronal hole. The MUF was a low 4 mhz in the area around Iceland and moving westward, and overlaid by a larger 5 mhz area from Greenland to Scandinavia. I was expecting it to be as bad as last Sunday morning, but it was only about ‘normal’. Actually I was surprised some stations were still producing audio to nearly 1115 UTC. Fading was prominent. The nice thing was the amount of activity. At one point, I noted at least 6 stations on the air at one time. We got a couple inches of snow Saturday, so the roads were mostly snow-covered. No problem though.

RX: Microtelecom Perseus SDR with ARR preamp.
ANT: 315' Beverage (BOG) at 50°, 290° (other parking lot), then 340°, and back to 270°.
QTH: Pennsylvania State Game Lands #26
Duration: 0710-1112 UTC
Solar Indices: Solar Flux = 72 A Index = 4 K Index = 2 No storms.
WX: Mostly cloudy with a few flakes. Cold, 19° F. (-7° C.)

7610.05 R. Amica 0711 long tlk by M in IT. Very poor. Rock mx around 0717. “R. Amica onda corte…â€
