Westcoast Finland log: April 5 & 6

Post by Jan II »

Another weekend with high A-index throwing signals to me but erasing local signals in central Europe. Fun for me...

Saturday April 5

3905,0 2105 Antonio Radio thanking for SMS. Played "My girl" and some oldies.
3935,0 2240 Laser Hot Hits playing Blondie. Increasing signal during the evening.
6220,0 1923 Mystery Radio with a liveprogramme and Chris Ise. Very professional sound.
6270,0 0759 Radio Calypso and "Yellow sun of Ecuador" Sign off 0845. The only morningstation heard this day. I had nothing to listen to after 0845.
6275,1 1543 Radio Montecarlo playing popmusic. I lost the signal around 1620, perhaps sign off?
6307,1 1625 Radio Royal with a test, said he had modulationproblems... Later Lady Bianca was behind the microphone playing "Purple rain" and other nice songs. Still on the air 1900.
6310,6 1347 Radio Lowland had QSO with somebody. Sign off 1352. Again heard around 1734 and QSO with Marconi 1906-1910. A weak station was also heard 1910-1916 on 6310,0, perhaps Marconi.
6311,1 1910 Radio l'Arboc via Barretina played AC/DC. Interfered by a tone from Lowland this time. Very good reception and a great rockshow around 2150.
6325,0 1759 Radio Skywire playing rock'n'roll "Peggy Sue", "Johnny B. Good", "Great balls of fire" etc. Not so strong but a clear frequency this evening. ID at 1812.
6523,8 1315 Radio Ramona with a lot of schlagers this time. Still on the air 1415.
6882,0 1410 Playback International announcing Summermeeting 2008 in a break in the jazz. Weak this early but perfect reception and more jazz around 2145.

Sunday April 6 (Weak signals but obviously better than in the south. A good chance to choose music early this morning with PBI playing jazz, Lowland playing polka, Condor with trancedance, Jodelpiraat yodeling, Calypso with pop and later with schlager. Orion was playing all of this...

3935,0 1955 Laser Hot Hits reading reception reports.
5815,0 0733 Orion Radio was talking about some birthdayparty when I came to the frequency. Happy birthday John if it was your party!
6270,0 0708 Radio Calypso with a very long programme. Still on the air 1540 when I had to leave the radio. At 1330 also Scirocco and Blackbird were in the studio. Strongest station this day and for hours the only free radiostation that I could hear. Nice work!
6281,0 0757 Radio Jodelpiraat was a new experience for me, but I have problems putting together a report to the station. No idea about the names of the alpyodelsongs. I liked this. :P
6305,4 0642 Radio Lowland playing polka.
6310,2 0658 Radio Condor playing his speciality; trancedance.
6310,6 1410 Radio Lowland was testing the equipment. Sign of around 1437. Very active this weekend.
6312,2 1933 Radio l'Arboc via Barretina playing music for MEN; "Jailhouse rock", later "Sultans of swing".
6325,0 1355 Radio Skywire with more rock'n'roll this day.
6882,0 0630 Playback International was my morning-cup-of-coffee-station with sweet soft jazz at this hour. I didn´t hear them in the evening. Off air?

This sunday also a section with unidentified, all with SINPO 11111..hi...:

6215,2 0635-0705 music
6265,0 0756 music (Iann in France heard Premier Radio at 0806)
6306,0 1036-1102 dutch station (Harri in Finland and ukdxer were listening to Radio Brandaris)
6325,0 0635-0708 playing "We love the pirate station" 0651. (Axel in Cologne listened to Rainbow 0800)
6925,0 1943 instrumental orchestral music very strongly. Sign off after this piece of music without any talking. Heard when I was looking for Spider. It didn´t sound like Spider-music... Spooky frequency this ...

Radio: NRD 525G + old cassetterecorder.
Antenna: Longwire, 20 metres thrown out from the window.

Now I think the sauna is ready for me...
