Probably just wishful thinking on my part, but I've got some weak talk on 6264.9 kHz in AM mode around 1920 UTC here in NY. Is this a pirate, anyone else hearing it?

Maybe IRIB George ?

( 6265 : 1830-1930 : IRN IRIB Teheran : F Eu /LTU )

This data from EiBi - http://www.eibi.de.vu/

Thanks

Thanks Robin, it must have been Iran then. Propagation this past weekend was extremely poor; normally I would hear Iran without any problem, but this time they were barely audible. Equally disturbing was that I couldn't even detect WMR's carrier on 6400 the entire weekend; very unusual. The solar flux has been so low of late, that it's possible the MUF was too low to support transatlantic propagation on 48 meters.

That might tie in as local reception of high end medium wave was up in the UK into darkness hours.
So the signals were not being reflected from distant locals!

Maybe not IRIB ???

Hi Again George,

The only slight problem with the IRIB "theory" is that I listened to the French TX yesterday and they appear to be more or less exactly on 6265 kHz ... ? Either way, it's a bit late to now (two days after the event). So I guess we'll never know for sure.

Best 73's ... Robin
