European Free Radio Report; Dunlo, PA, USA, 22 July 2007

21 July 2007: Went up to the usual remote listening location at Pennsylvania State Game Lands #26 for an hour or so in the evening. Was hoping to hear the R. Condor broadcast. Had the reel of wire cut for 60 meters in the Jeep instead of the 48 meter length reel. I don't think the longer wire made much of a difference. Conditions were a bit disturbed from a waning recurrent coronal hole. However, general listening conditions were quiet as no thunderstorms were in the region. Our sunset is much too late at this time of year, but it was still nice to get out with the receiver again.

Solar Indices: S.F. = 66 A Index = 16 K Index = 3 G1 level storms due to a recurrent coronal hole.
WX: Very few clouds. Warm, 70° F. (22° C.)
6310 R. Condor?? Already getting a carrier at first check, then some audio at 2258. Very weak but clear and low noise level. 2300 sounded like the song "The Other Guy" by The Little River band but it was probably something else. 2305 live M anncr, 2306 mx briefly, then more announcements. Much too weak to copy. Pause, then next song which was an instru. w/flute very prominent from 2307-2310. The signal really dropped down to almost nothing at 2311. A little stronger at 2329 and sounded like mx starting to come through again at 2332, but just couldn't get any stronger. Carrier still there at 2343 when I decided to tune away briefly, but it was gone when I returned at 2345. Seemed to be drifting. Was right around 6310 at initial tune in, and was up to about 6310.1 but 2343. Anyone hear R. Condor here at this time?? (Valko 21 July)
6400 WMR 2348 Jack playing old SWBC ISs including R. Moscow W.S. 2351 "WMR, Weekend Music R." ID. Ment of sev. other Russian SW stations. Ment of WMR studios, then played R. Station Peace and Progress IS/ID. 0002 read reports, song anmnt/ID, and into "Addicted to Love" by Robert Palmer. Slowly getting better. Just Hams on 3910. (Valko 21 July)

6264.9 Premier R. Int.?? Just a carrier here at 0727. Too weak but definitely something here. (Valko 22 July)
No sign of the R. Sonar/R. Bermudadreieck broadcast when I checked from 0655-0735. (Valko 22 July)
