London Calling.
Conditions were terrible here today.Signals were weaker than normal, fading in & out rapidly & the local noise level was high too.
Despite this, many stations on the air.Unfortunately I could not identify many of them.More UNID’s this week than I can remember!
Two new stations for me,Radio Marconi & Radio Ringo International.
Radio Ringo claimed to be broadcasting from International waters in The North Sea.They made it sound realistic, even had a carrier on for hours before they started programmes.Anyone any info on this station?
6285 – 6295Khz was too busy again.Blackbird,Delta & North Pole all had nice signals but interfered with each other within those frequencies.
On the music side, rare to hear John Lee Hooker on the Pirate bands, but from two different stations was a surprise.Radio Mazda played “Boom,Boomâ€

Your UNIDs (and more)
Hello Andy,
That was a tough time to identify all those stations fading in and out!
I read carefully your report and found useful (or not so useful) replies.
> : quotes from your report
+ : my replies
------- For Saturday 17/03/07 :
> 6300Khz - 1628-1631 - UNID - 34433 - S7 - Dutch Music.
+ Several reports about Romeo Echo on 6299 kHz, the last one at 16.24 from Jari. Sooner, I heard this station playing pop music oldies.
------- For Sunday 18/03/07 :
> 6260Khz - 1230-1231 - UNID - 25322 - S5 - Dutch.
+ Could be R.Marconi again (acc. to Jari, Marcel and Robertas-Leuven)
> 6270Khz - 1411-1414 - Radio Ringo Int - 35423 - S7 - From the North Sea?!- Green Day.
> Radio Ringo International.
> Radio Ringo claimed to be broadcasting from International waters in The North Sea. They made it sound realistic, even had a carrier on for hours before they started programmes.Anyone any info on this station?
+ I heard that one also and had to get many IDs before understanding : Radio Rainbow (from the North Sea). Maybe they could make it easier to copy.
> 6275Khz - 1441-1444 - UNID - 35444 - S7 - Dutch Music,"Jamie's Crying" - Van Halen.
+ On 6277.5 at 14.40, I heard a Country song by two cow-boys, maybe Woody Harrelson and John C. Reilly from the movie "A prairie home companion"(2006). Then at 14.42 the station played a Dutch woman singer. Strong signal, maybe a short transmission.
> 6275Khz - 1514-1516 - UNID - 35322 - S7 - English.
+ This one could be Laser International on 6276. They seemed to have troubles and quit abruptly at 15.15 (at my clock, very accurate).
> 6290Khz - 0939-0942 - Radio Mazda - 35434 - S7 - Boston,"Boom,Boom" - J.L.Hooker.
> 6290Khz - 0954-0957 - Delta Radio - 44433 - S8 - Dutch Music.Interference from 6295Khz.
+ Are you sure? I found no report about that Delta. Maybe it was Mazda again mentioning Delta?
> 6300Khz - 1522-1525 - UNID - 35433 - S7 - Dutch Music.Nice clear signal.
+ I had an Unid on 6299 with polka. Maybe Romeo Echo again (acc. to Bermuda and ukdxer).
> 6310Khz - 1239-1242 - UNID - 35333 - S7 - "Feel like makin' love" - Bad Co.
+ This UNID could be the same heard by Jari at 1300 mixed with Free Radio Holland. Achim identified Kilo Tango Lima on 6311 with pop music at 1230.
------- More comments
Of course, there are too many stations around 6300kHz on weekends. Much free space around 5700 kHz (hope they are not reserved for emergencies). 5700 has two other advantages : a shorter skip, and no strong signals on the image frequencies (around 6600 for many receivers - images for 6300 are around 7200 full of strong signals). And 5700 is also in the SW range for many common receivers (not like 3900 kHz).
BTW, Deutsche Welle was on 6315 on Sunday 18/03/07 before 0800, and this was not an image frequency from the 41m band. Probably a spur, difference of two frequencies in the same transmitting site.
