Glasgow SW log, Sunday 28th January

Post by undigest »

Odd conditions again, some very strong signals but fading in and out at random. Just before I tuned out at 1345, I copied a blurred weather fax map which I think was from Halifax, Canada on 6330kHz: unusual for this frequency and time of day (for me anyway). Maybe some signals made it across the pond in the other direction...

5725kHz, Orion Radio, 0805UTC playing "I Walk The Line", and giving ID and address in Dutch. 45444, S9+20, deteriorating a bit later. Thanks for saying hello, John!

6210kHz, Bogusman, 1047 sign on with lots of dead air and "...are you relaxed...?" 45333 (he's almost always the strongest UK station here, wonder where he is?)

6220kHz, Mystery Radio (presumed), playing pop at 1333, SINPO 34322. Not heard at all before this time today, most unusual.

6240kHz, BRI, "The Flashback Show on BRI" playing Manfred Mann at 1033. 33333, better signal than usual here.

6275kHz, Laser Hot Hits (presumed), heard 1332 with advert for Offshore Echoes and "playing four in a row". 44433, gone a few minutes later.

6280kHz, Radio Merlin, 0839 playing techno music and giving email address + phone no. 34322, improved later.

6295kHz, UNID heard weakly with music at 1051.

6305kHz, UNID heard weakly with music at 0938.

6305kHz, Radio Borderhunter, 1328 giving ID, SMS + email, and playing "Roll Over Beethoven". Off air 1331. 34333.

6305kHz, UNID (maybe West Coast?) at 1504 playing "Kids in America" by Kim Wilde. Off air 1532. 24222.

6310kHz, UNID heard briefly playing Van Halen's "Jump" at 1548. 24222.

6307kHz, Radio Zodiac, 1241 in German thanking Dr. Tim for report, then lots of IDs in English + playing Simple Minds "Don't You Forget About Me". 34333

6325kHz, Radio Paardenkracht, 0826 playing "Accident Prone" by Status Quo, then "In the Mood" by Glenn Miller. ID at 0832. 43433.

6330kHz, Radio Zodiac heard here with a brief test at 1327UTC. 43433 with UTE QRM.

6401kHz, WMR with ID and email address at 1032.

6525kHz, Sparks Radio, just edging into audibility every so often with Queen songs: "Another One Bites The Dust" at 0848, "We Are The Champions" at 1030 and "Don't Stop Me Now" at 1202. Briefly 24322, then 0=1 for the rest of the morning...

FRG-7 + indoor wire.
All frequencies +/- a bit...

Best to all,

Peter
