2006 - 2007 Stations and Audio.

Post by Bycross Radio »

It has beem a pleasure to listen in these last few days! I have been staying in the hilly world of North Devon (UK). Deep in the Valley, even the local FM powerhouse three miles away struggles to reach us! I only had the shortwave portable with me, so it was a nice surprise to hear so many strong stations using only a telscopic whip. As for the recordings, some are now in WMA format. If anybody still has problems loading, please get in touch or drop me a line! The odd clicking noise occasionally heard in these recordings is an electric cattle fencer - local QRM only!

New Years Eve:
First up was Radio Boomerang, heard from 8:30 through till 9:10am GMT. They had an absolutly cracking signal at times, although it did vary throughout the day. The clip is made from two recordings, taken 15 mins apart and converted to WMA.

@10:15am we had Radio Borderhunter. At first the signal was not too impressive, although it did strenghen later on. Audio here:

WMR came in nicely, although their position to my north (and hence blocked by the surrounding hills) was evident by their weaker than normal signal, and I had to put up a long line antenna to hear them better. It was a pleasure to listen to them, an intresting program as always. Fortunatly, no jamming was heard. Audio (again as WMA) here:

And now, something for people to help me with:

Heard at 2:15, it sounds dutch? Possibly Borderhunter on a lower freq?

As for New Years Day, It was pretty hectic at home! Still, I did manage to listen to Westcoast Radio for an hour or so. They had an even stronger signal at times than Boomerang the previous day! The following audio is two clips taken an hour apart, the first at 2:50 and the second at 3:40pm.

Just to clear up some personal confusion, is this station in any way related to Eastcoast radio, or are the names simply a coincidence?

That wraps it up for now, and I wish everyone in the free Radio scene the best of luck for this new year.
