Congratulations
Congratulations Marcel and Jan for hearing your first US pirates.
Marcel, that must have been WMPR that you heard. Right now, it is probably the strongest US pirate station, and is always in AM mode. There are some other stations you should be able to hear also, as either they run high power, are in USB mode, or both.
Next time anyone hears a US pirate over in Europe, please be sure to post your logging to the FRN Grapevines. ( http://www.frn.net/vines/ ) It’s the US based pirate forum. I think if the pirate ops see they are being heard in Europe, it will encourage them to try some late evening broadcasts.
Typically, the US pirates are on 6925, 6950, or 6955. At times, you can find them also on 6800, 6854, 6875 and 6965. The band goes long very early now, so most stations are probably off before 2300 UTC (1800 local time on the East coast of USA). If you guys happen to be up late at night, you just might hear some more stations.
During one summer holiday in Europe, I was able to log 7 different US pirate stations in a 3 week period. As it was summer, stations were on much later at night (say 0300-0400 UTC), which coincided nicely with my local dawn in Europe.
Other stations that you should be able to hear include Undercover Radio (which always sends out a great QSL package that will include a studio quality CD of the entire show, sometimes even a t-shirt), WHYP, Grasscutter Radio, Sunshine Radio, and Captain Morgan.
