London Calling.

Post by Andy Richards »

I don't think conditions were too bad today. But the bands were not that busy.

The skip was a bit weird but not much noise here. Some deep fading and fade outs.

But the best measure for me is Orion Radio and he had a regular signal.

Just as strong were Borderhunter,Quintus & Marconi. But strongest of all was Scotland.
Dave in Kent was only getting a fair signal from Scotland and he was crashing in here, which is further away.

Borderhunter was testing a new aerial and as he said, too early to tell on one test, but not as strong as normal with me today.

All stations heard were coming through well,it was the weaker stations that suffered.
I could hear very weak signals on 4025,6240,6295 & 6870.
Obviously 4025 was LHH and 6870 was Playback or Pirate Music but as with 6240 & 6295 they were too weak to hear.

radio or snow?

Post by Axel »

Hello Andy,

lucky guy who had time to listen to shortwave on Sunday morning. My children took me on both hands to come with them outside - and then they rubbed me with snow. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

They left me some seconds for a short scan over the band at around 0930. Strongest station was Scotland on 6200, following 6220 and 6310. That ist was.
On 76 on Friday evening I heard a Dutch station on 3905, on Saturday evening something on 3934 (and of course Baro) and today on 76 nothing. No Laser but a S4 on 3915 from Singapore.

I remember last weekend happend the same to me: no radio and rubbing with snow.

I wish you a nice week

Axel

Hi Axel,

Your post was very funny.(Not for you).

Luckily for me my children are now too big too pull me out to play in the snow!!

Also the snow here has gone now.We had two weeks of it,unheard of in London,we normally get no snow or just for a day or two!

I think this must be Global warming.............

No report from anyone about 6870 (for two weeks), so that should not be Playback or Pirate Music. Nothing else reported, so it is unexplained.

Anyone knowing something about 6870 being silent ?
