Westcoast Finland log, 10 & 11 January

Post by Jan II »

An ordinary weekend here. No new stations heard but some good old friends were on air. Luckily the bands were quiet without much static noice, otherwise this list would have been very short as the signalstrength of the stations was below average.
Much below average was also the reception of stations from UK/Ireland. Only Premier Radio from Ireland heard - where are the Brittish and Scottish stations????? Now when Premier is raided - will there be anything at all next weekend???

Saturday 10 January

5800 0750 PlayBack International with soft jazz this early. Later an american radiorecording and rock'n'roll. 35433
6260,1 0833 Radio Altrex "broadcasting from the land of cheese" was audible for over an hour. 25322
6305,3 1250 Delta Radio with a song about Dolores. "Delta Radio"-jingles between the songs. 35333
6317,3 1047 unid dutch station playing schlager and a few oldies such as the old Connie Francis hit in german "Die Liebe ist ein seltsames Spiel" (Everybody´s somebody´s fool) and "Rote Lippen soll man küssen" (Lucky lips). Still heard 1300 with a poor signal and I gave up. Pity, I spent a lot of time here. I still have some recorded announcements to "mangle" but I don´t have much hope... 25232 in the tops.
6325,1 1134 Radio Montecarlo "Chiquitita" on the plate at this hour. Sign off at 1141.

Sunday 11 January

5800 2020 PlayBack International was my musicstation this evening. Good blues!!! 25333
5815 0802 Orion Radio with offshoretunes and a promoting am-forum.nl. Good signal this morning. 35433
6205 1117 Radio Borderhunter playing old rock and pop-hits but also some newer techno. Still on the air after 1240. 25433
6220 1009 Delta Radio hit the waves with disco. Very strong and was asking for reports. 45544
6240,4 0826 Misti Radio playing rock and pop. Amazing signal from this 8 watt transmitter to a 6 metres long antenna!! The third time I hear Misti now in a few weeks. This weeks prize for clearest ID goes also to Misti. Even if you don´t hear much else, the short announcements drills through any noice with a sharp sound. Misti-John must get out the maximum of the equipment! 25433 =D>

:pirate-great: :pirate-great:
6265 0933 Premier Radio was entertaining me with Beach Boys "Good vibrations" at this hour. The good vibrations ended half an hour later when the authorities raided the station. Very sad this, I thought Irelend was a safe country for free radio. I´m sure Jimmy will survive this and that we will hear great music again from the west coast! 25322
:pirate-great: :pirate-great:

6286 0938 Radio Doctor Tim talking in german and playing music. Korea started 1000 on 6285, but I could still hear fragments of Dr Tim around 1020, causing an interfering tone to Korea. Don´t make them angry in North Korea Doctor...heh... 25333, later 21421
6300 0915 Radio Quintus playing dutch music. Greetings to Sven in Dresden, who reported excellent 44444. Here it was 35433, also very good.
6310 1100 Radio Condor with dancemusic as usual. 25333
6323,9 0759 Radio Waves International still heard around 0900 but faded away later. "Twist a Saint Tropez" at this hour. Announcements in french and english. Nice to hear RWI again after a long time! 25322
6936 2018 unid balkan QSO-guy heard here several evenings. Very short QSOs, on air only for seconds saying a few words and playing high speed instrumental balkan music. It comes from 1734 kHz (4 x 1734 = 6936) where one also can hear the other station taking part in the QSO. The reception is usually better on shortwave. Homemade, powerful, leaking transmitter-toy..? 35433 on SW, 23332 on MW.

Thanks to all stations for this weekend!

Radio: NRD 525G.
Antenna: 20 metres cupperwire, partly under the snow at the moment.

...and now an other strong dark Imperial Stout. I will survive this winter, I will!!!

Thanks for the comment Ray!

Yes, I have this Blue Boy (or Blueboy) on my tape too. Two clear ID's found when I got a clue what to look for. I wrote down "Radio Blue-something" in the log when I was listening, but when I later listened through the recordings I didn´t "verify" my own Radio Blue-theory. I was completely lost with this station.

Luckily our Doctor Tim seems to know what he is listening to, and when his newsletter came, the station was IDed in a few minutes also by my own tapes. Excellente!!!

Happy end with this station/logging. I haven´t decided yet if I should try a snailmailreport to Eisenach. Ukdxer has a tentative logging of Blueboy today... I think I will wait over this weekend, if I don´t hear Blueboy I will write him a letter with this "old" report.

Thanks again Ray (and especially the Doctor!)
