Westcoast Finland log 21-24 May
Hello all! A late weekendreport this time, haven't been home much since Sunday evening... A lot of short tests observed on 48 mb and over 6900 kHz (not mentioned in this log). Nonstop music for a few seconds or minutes, then off. I hate them and I love them! Hate them because I never know what I am ...

Aha! Good information there Dave! I didn´t know about this nightservice. I usually stay up late on Saturday evenings, I will check the fq from now on. About this drifting. Usually I hear WRI on 12257,1, but I have seen other listeners sometimes mentioning 12257,2. This was the first time I have hea...

Westcoast Finland log; 15-17 May
Hello everybody! This weekend I had many hours to spend on the radio, but I am not satisfied with the result. No signals! Weak, weak fragments of music fading up 5 seconds after hours of listening. Highlights were the Friday evening show from Sonnet and the unexpected appearance of Likedeeler. Pity ...

I agree Ray! I had problems too with Cairo when listening to Sonnet on 6309,2 on friday evening, SINPO 22432... The same goes also for Cairo on 6860. The broken sound covers some early evenings PlayBack on 6870... Let´s hope that Cairo´s transmitter falls in parts completely soon! Jan

Westcoast Finland log; 9 & 10 May
Hello all! Interesting weekend again. No weekend is like the other. The high activity from England continues with new stations popping up. I saw in some log that also Bogusman was on the air Friday evening, great. Sonnet on air again, and BoB, and Telstar South, and WRI, and Laser, and Merlin with a...

Hello Terry!
Interesting reading about your DX-background. I see myself in most of this text... I was also chasing those few unheard SW-countries those years. I haven´t counted how many countries I heard, but it could be about that 182... Also here the family-life stopped me a little but I never stopped listeni...

Westcoast Finland log; 2 & 3 May 2009
Puh... So many stations on the air. But it was a hard work to identify the mostly weak signals. Luckily the noicelevel was low, otherwise I would have heard nothing. Strange conditions on the bands. A very interesting weekend! Saturday 2 May 3900 1605 Spaceman on the air again after a long time, wit...

Westcoast Finland log; 25 & 26 April
Interesting weekend. One evening and one morning... Saturday 25 April (The morning and afternoon gave me exactly nil. Not one station heard! On the other hand I am happy with the radioweather in the evening and the high activity.) 3890 2053 Free Radio Victoria playing oldies from the 50's "Oh C...

Hello Roger and BRI! Quite good signal here on 6254,2 kHz when I found you 6.43 UTC. Total fade away after 7.30 (10.30 local time here) when the sun started to eat all signals and rising the noicelevel. Saturday evening when I was listening to Laser 4024,6, I also heard this 6255 being mentioned aro...

Hello Axel! Nothing wrong with your beer, you took the right one of course when you tuned in 3930 kHz! Foxy was on 3930, moved to 3909 and then Roni started his superpower on 3930... The spring is soon here and the snow has started to melt. I can see the end of my antenna now!!! I rise a Kölsch to ...

Westcoast Finland log; 18 & 19 April
Daytime listening it getting harder now with longer days and the sun eating all signals. On sunday all signals disappeared 0900 on 48 mb (1200 local time here). After 1300 they returned (1600 local). I guess I have to wait to september to get them back and concentrate on the evenings. Beaches here I...

Saturday evening log, 18 April
Hello folks! Checked the mediumwave as it was announced that Old Time Radio was to appear there. This is very interesting because finnish pirates don´t transmit on mediumwave. I have only heard one before, Radio Royals, who was testing one night on the old 227 metres (before Norway started on 1314 ...

Sounds good to me Nova! High frequencies reach me easily, but will probably skip central Europe where most of the listeners are... :-k And Foton I have strange memories about that Antarctic station. 2 December 1989 I came home from the hospital (my lady had given birth to my elder daughter) and I di...
