Pirate logs for sunday morning 19/11/06.

Here we are then, my very first day listening on the 48 meter band! The very first station heard from 9:00 -9:35 am GMT was Radio Scotland. Receiving you in the UK, Heavy fading. Good Music quality, voice sounds a bit poor. Conditions making it hard to catch what you are saying.
Received on a 1950 six valve set with a 10 meter long line.
Some interfierance from some sort of beacon? (could be a local ham)

Time: 9:25 am GMT
Radio scotland now being heard on 6300KHZ From Dorset. Deep fading, but wonderful music quality. Voice sounds slightly mufffled, fading making it hard to catch everything they are saying.

Being received on a 1950 valve set with 9 meter 'L' shape anttenns.

Thanks! To be honest, I can put up with the TX's limitations for the moment- after all, it cost practically nothing! Most of the bits were scavenged off old circuit boards, and the 'crystal' is a DIL8 package off a scrap computor graphics card. Anyway, I hope to be looking at a set next weekend- som...

Mainly horizontal... Why mainly? Its a long line with a verticle feed in to the middle! Antenna is orientated roughly North/South, if that helps. I think a CB whip might be a better idea one of these days... But a measured and (hopefully!) balanced wire is simple and cheap.
